Civic Centre For Sarva Siksha Abhiya

Sarva Siksha Abhiyan is an initiative by the Indian Government aimed at universalisation of elementary education “in a time-bound manner”. This programme was pioneered by former Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee which aims to make education free and compulsory for all children between ages 6 to 14.

A civic centre is a network of spaces that provide essential services to a city or town. It can include everything from government offices and public meeting spaces to free classes for the members of the community.

This is a proposal to design a civic centre for Sarva Siksha Abhiyan adjacent to the GSHSEB building in Sector 10B, Gandhinagar. The planning is done in such a way that the civic centre is easy to operate and maintain on a daily basis. The exterior gives a rigid look with exposed brick and concrete creating its own identity in the area.
