Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Auditorium, Rajkot

The auditorium was designed for the Rajkot Municipal Corporation having 750 seats. The design was done in the context of the site as the site was linear and located in the corner having roads on both sides. The brief from the client was simple and short: a community hall and a multipurpose auditorium. So the building was stretched along with the site with eight different segments in the facade. The first four panels belong to the auditorium and the next four to the community hall.

The community hall is physically discontinued from the auditorium but retains visual connectivity. Eco-friendly absorption technology was adopted for controlling the microclimate of the building. Restriction of the site led to playing with the building vertically by providing long slender elements.
